Uses Cases for Digital Building Permits
The use cases presented in this section focus on the implementation of a digital building permit system and are organised according to different scenarios that address the main challenges and regulatory processes in construction. Each scenario represents a concrete situation where digital solutions are applied to improve efficiency and compliance. Each scenario allows for an analysis of how digital permitting systems address different industry challenges, improving collaboration, compliance and sustainability.Finnish demonstrations
The Finnish demonstrations in the ACCORD project provide an opportunity to showcase and further develop how Finland will implement BIM-based building permitting. The country has recently approved a new national legislation requiring building permits to be applied with IFC format if the building design is done with BIM.

German demonstrations
The German Demonstrator focusses on digitizing and automating land use permit-, environmental compliance- and building permit processes.
Solutions being developed for three use cases aim to support the transition to digital, BIM-based and automated building permit- and compliance checking processes in Germany. This is realized based on interoperable data exchange, the use and further development of process- and open data standards and the integration of machine-readable regulations and guidelines.

UK demonstrations
The UK demonstration case focuses on enhancing the efficiency and reliability of compliance checks of structural integrity by integrating advanced digital tools and methodologies. It seeks to leverage the latest technological advancements in BIM and structural analysis to ensure that modular housing components meet the Euro codes in terms of strength checks of structural steel members. This involves utilising BIM-based inputs and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to assess and verify compliance with relevant building regulations.

Spainish demonstrations
The Spanish pilot involves a use case that includes two demonstrations focused on automate the process of checking compliance with urban planning regulations using BIM models in the IFC format. The checking of urban regulations is part of the process of granting permits for the construction of public and private works by municipal authorities. The part of the checking of urban regulations takes place in the preliminary project application phase of the permitting process.
