ACCORD e-learning hub

The ACCORD e-learning hub provides free online content focused on digital building permits, developed in collaboration with ACCORD partners. The training materials consist of short, engaging videos (5-20 minutes) that offer a comprehensive overview of ACCORD’s key results. These materials are organized into three training packs, each covering the following topics:

  • ACCORD Digital Building Permits: Semantics and Rule Formalization Processes
  • ACCORD Digital Building Permit Tools and Methodologies for Municipalities and Professionals
  • ACCORD Digital Building Permit Pilots: Outcomes for Standardization, Policy Making, and Decision Makers

The training packs will support the activities of the ACCORD webinars series that will run from October/2024 to April/2025.

For more information about the webinars dates and registration links click here

Between October/2024 and April/2025, ACCORD training material will be added to this webpage.

1st training pack: ACCORD Digital Building Permits: Semantics and Rule Formalization Processes

ACCORD Digitalisation

ACCORD Digitalisation Methodology for building permits

This training material provides an overview of ACCORD methodology to digitalise and formalize regulations and compliance-related documents. The methodology builds on the AEC3PO tool providing a novel Domain Specific Language (DSL) for the building environment. The RASE and rule formalisation concepts are also introduced in this video.

Target group

This training material targets regulation experts and professionals familiar with data formats such as IFC.

Learning objectives

    • Knowledge of the ACCORD digitalization method for building permits and compliance checking concept, process and its three implementation types.
    • Understanding RASE application in the ACCORD digitalization method.
    • Awareness of rule formalization including expression authoring and bSDD mapping.

Author

    • Thomas Beach, Reader in Construction Informatics at Cardiff University

ACCORD semantic framework

semantic framework

This training material provides an overview of the ACCORD semantics framework. The framework is the ACCORD project proposal for what an automated digitalized building permit should look like. It can be the basis for a new generation of semantically aware digital building permits and automated compliance checking.

Target group

This training material targets companies and organizations working on the development of digital tools for building permitting or automated compliance checking, and public authorities seeking to implement digital building permits.

Learning objectives

    • Understanding of ACCORD framework and the interrelationship to its componets such as regulatory documents, ACCORD rule formalization procees, data dictionary, cloud permiting services, model and data validation services, process execution engine, data storage system, micro-services bridge the cloud services and a set of compliance checking services.
    • Awareness of ACCORD methodology for the development of the framework including the landscape review of automated digital building permits and the survey results on how to achieve the adoption of automated digital building permits.

Author

    • Thomas Beach, Reader in Construction Informatics at Cardiff University
